Black Sea MAP – “PR Time Machine” Reveals Deep Blue Thousand Years Mysteries

Black Sea MAP – International Archaeological Project

M3 Communications Group, Inc. was invited to present the Black Sea MAP - one of the largest multi-disciplinary maritime archaeology projects ever attempted. Never before has the Black Sea been investigated on this scale. The project includes local and international professionals.

We executed Public Relations and Public Affairs campaign organizing an Open Day ship event in September 2016. A Crisis communications plan, media relations and communication with authorities such as the Ministry of Culture, the National Archaeological Institute (Bulgarian Academy of Science), the Diplomatic Corps and the British Council were put in place. The project is mapping the submerged cultural heritage of Bulgaria, and is contributing to the building of the prehistoric and historic record of human activity in the region.

Black Sea MAP is of great importance not only to the local culture preservation authorities, but also to the international ones, the media and the public. The 3-year project is funded by the Expedition and Education Foundation, in collaboration with the Centre for Maritime Archaeology – University of Southampton – UK and the Centre for Underwater Archaeology – Bulgaria assisted by the Bulgarian Archaeological Institute, the University of Connecticut – USA, the Maritime Archaeological Research Institute, Sodertorn University – Sweden and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research – Greece.
