"The Diabetes Hour"

In 2016, AstraZeneca launched the "Diabetes Hour" to raise awareness of diabetes type 2, and developments in its treatment among endocrinologists, general practitioners, journalists specializing in health reporting, patients and society as a whole.
To this end, regular meetings were held with endocrinologists and general practitioners to increase their awareness about developments in the treatment of diabetes. There was also a national event "The Triumph of Innovation" focusing on innovations that have the potential to change the treatment and course of type 2 diabetes. Especially for patients with the disease, an information campaign was organised about the importance of strict adherence to therapy to achieve the optimum result. In collaboration with nutritionists, seasonal diets were prepared, to enable these patients to maintain a balanced weight.
In 2016, with the support of the British Embassy and the Ambassador personally, Her Excellency Emma Hopkins, a long-term educational academy for health journalists was launched, the Diabetes Hour. The aim of the "Diabetes Hour" is for useful information to reach Bulgarian society about the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes and prevention of the disease, to recognize the symptoms, early diagnosis, the need for timely adequate and stable control and early treatment of the disease.
