Bayer Science Lab

The project addresses a problem in the Bulgarian educational system – namely that in an era of growing technologies and communications knowledge in natural sciences is still presented with no “learning by experience” tools relying on theory rather than practice and demonstrations. Some schools in Bulgaria even lack laboratories and proper equipment. Science is not attractive in the school agenda and young people cannot experience its miracles and feel inspired to explore scientific knowledge and career opportunities.
As part of its communication strategy, Bayer Bulgaria launched the project Bayer Science Lab for children which aims to reveal the role of science in every day's life to children aged 8-12 from Sofia and make them experience the fun part of chemistry and biology through different experiments.
Bayer Science Lab was located at the Earth and Man National Museum in Sofia on 13-19 October 2015. The experiments were chosen by Bayer Bulgaria’s team and were developed and tested by students – Olympics competitors. The experiments were adapted to the age of the participants combining visual stimuli, interaction and interesting facts.
Approximately 600 students from visited the Bayer Science lab during the activation period, and many more declared interest for the next edition. The project generated a total number of 31 264 937 media impressions (the population of Bulgaria is 7,5 million) with more than 70 publications in traditional, online and social media.
