Give Balkan trout a chance

"Give Balkan trout a chance" is a unique campaign dedicated to restoring the eco balance in the river system in Bulgaria. The campaign was very important and took huge publicity, because the problem with the eco balance in the rivers in Bulgaria takes over in the last few years. "Give Balkan trout a chance" was successfully accomplished thanks to the combination of online and offline communication channels. The project is executed and funded by Lidl Bulgaria in three editions – year 2013, 2014, 2015.
One part of the campaign was the creations of online game application on Lidl's Facebook fan page available for everyone. All participants compete to catch as much fish as they can. On their turn, Lidl takes the responsibility to release as many live Balkan trout in the rivers as the number of fish caught in the online application. The next part of the project was to encourage the people to raise Balkan trout in the application on Facebook and create their one hatchery. Lidl releases the number of the raised Balkan trout from the application in the rivers.
During the three editions of the campaign thanks to the high activity of the Facebook fans of Lidl Bulgaria, the team of Balkan trout fishing club released more than 212 000 trouts in the Bulgarian mountain rivers. That shows the increasing interest and awareness about the problem. The fishing club "Balkan trout" claimed that the population of Balkan trout in the rivers is increasing which means that fishes are adapting well.
